RenewableNI is the voice of Northern Ireland’s renewable electricity industry, committed to accelerating the transition to a zero-carbon electricity system by 2035.

We bring together member companies from across the renewable industry, including wind, solar, and energy storage, to collaborate, innovate, and advocate for a cleaner, more resilient energy future.

Our members include business leaders, technology pioneers, and expert thinkers who are shaping the future of energy in Northern Ireland.  Through strategic engagement, RenewableNI facilitates vital industry discussions, influences policy development, and hosts events that drive progress toward a low-carbon economy.

Established in collaboration with Wind Energy Ireland (WEI) and RenewableUK (RUK), we work closely with both organisations to ensure Northern Ireland’s interests are represented across the UK and Ireland.

Together, we are building an energy system that delivers for industry, consumers, and the environment.

The RenewableNI Ambition

The International Energy Agency (IEA) states that all advanced economies must achieve zero carbon electricity by 2035. This is now reflected in UK Government policy.
Northern Ireland has one of the greatest wind resources in the world and is well positioned to meet this target.

We currently have a 1.8GW renewable capacity. The NI Climate Change Act set a target of 80% renewables by 2030. This will require more than doubling the renewable electricity generation to meet the growth in demand as we electrify heat and transport.
