Join RenewableNI and A&L Goodbody as the 2025 series of renewable energy events kicks off with an issue of growing concern in the sector – dispatch down.
In this session, guests will hear from SONI‘s Head of Future Power Systems, Dave McGowan, on their draft Dispatch Down action plan.
Partner in A&L Goodbody’s Corporate Department, John Palmer, and Tamasin Fraser, RenewableNI Chair will also speak.
Following the presentations there will be an audience Q&A session with all the speakers.

Conleth McAteer,
Head of System Operations, SONI
Conleth McAteer is Head of System Operations at SONI. With extensive experience of power system operations, he has overall responsibility for overseeing the safe, secure and reliable real-time operation of the Northern Ireland Transmission System.
He joined SONI as a Graduate Engineer in 2011, before being promoted to Network Planning Engineer. He has held various roles including Team Lead for Codes & Policy, Security of Supply Lead and Team Lead for System Operations.
John Palmer,
Partner in A&L Goodbody’s Corporate Department
John Palmer is a partner in A&L Goodbody’s Corporate department in Belfast. He is a projects lawyer with over 10 years’ experience in the Irish Energy sector advising on a range of renewable technologies including onshore wind, solar, hydro and bioenergy. His clients include a range of international developers as well as equity and debt funders.
John is a regular speaker at industry events and provides specialised in-house training to a number of financial institutions in the funding of renewable energy projects. John is qualified to practice in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Tamasin Fraser, RenewableNI Chair
Tamasin is founder Managing Director of Omnipower Renewables, a renewable energy development and advisory company active across the UK and Ireland, specialising in identifying, acquiring and developing renewable energy sites. The company also works directly with energy users to increase their sustainability and reduce their costs.
