Smart Energy 2021 - a COP26 Regional Roadshow event

RenewableNI held a COP26 Regional Roadshow event reflecting the Presidency Programme theme of Energy.

With Northern Ireland in the process of deciding its future energy strategy, speakers discussed the role innovation will play in achieving the UK’s ‘net zero’ requirement.

A key industry event, there was the opportunity to network with policy makers and influencers as well as the important figures within the energy sector.   At the forefront of innovation, RenewableNI Smart Energy conference plays a vital role in turning ambition into achievement.

The conference addressed the unique position of Northern Ireland, with expert speakers discussing challenges and issues specific to the area.

The conference was opened by Northern Ireland’s Economy Minister, Gordon Lyons, who spoke about the Department’s new Energy Strategy publication.

The two panel discussions examined the role of community benefit in renewable projects and the future of renewables in NI, including hydrogen.

The role of NI’s renewable electricity industry can make to the region’s recovery as we emerge from Covid-19 restrictions was addressed with a preview of a new RenewableNI report.

Together we can accelerate the global transition to clean energy.
