Renewable electricity developer RES operates the three turbine Brackagh Quarry Wind Farm in Draperstown. A key part of the community benefits package the project has delivered is funding towards creating a community hub.
Involving the restoration of a derelict building, this financial support from the wind farm highlights the ongoing power of renewables to make a difference to local residents.
The community hub, located in the centre of Draperstown, consists of a meeting room, a main events hall, community group offices and a purpose-built youth club.
The hub officially opened in June 2022 after several years of hard work and determination. Subsequent annual payments will support the ongoing running costs and further development of the community hub.
The world’s largest independent renewable energy company, RES has delivered more than 23GW of renewable energy projects across the globe.
